Warung Babi Guling Ibu Oka is one of the most legendary warungs in Bali, serving the island’s most iconic dish — Babi Guling (Balinese suckling pig) — since the 1950s. Located in the heart of Ubud, this humble family-run warung has been passed down through generations and remains one of the most authentic culinary experiences on the island.
The signature dish features a whole suckling pig slow-roasted over an open fire, seasoned with a complex blend of Balinese spices including turmeric, galangal, lemongrass, and shrimp paste. The result is incredibly crispy skin, tender aromatic meat, and a flavor that is impossible to replicate anywhere else in the world.
A standard plate comes with steamed rice, crispy pork skin, lawar (spiced minced meat with coconut), sate lilit (minced pork satay), and a rich pork broth soup. The portions are generous and the prices are incredibly honest.
Arrive early — the best cuts sell out by noon and once it’s gone, it’s gone for the day. This is not a tourist trap. This is where Balinese families, local workers, and in-the-know travelers come for one of the greatest meals of their lives.
